Industrial Training Institute, Kattappana, under the Directorate of Industrial Training Department(DET), Thiruvanthapuram. ITI was initially set-up in the year of 1977 the intake capacity of 120 trainees. The institute running since last 41 years. The Institute has covered 8.5 acres area including Administrative Block and Workshop Building. The building surrounded by the natural environment with facilities of workshop, administrative wing, store and library. And the availability of an accommodation for Trainer Quarters. The Institute is engaged in imparting training in scheme of both NCVT & SCVT. The institute is functioning 13 trades in two shifts. Institute has well trained instructors and efficient administrative staff. Apart from ITI, there are no constraints has institute is well connected by road. Administration department including their role in purchase of tools-equipments, machinery, furniture, raw material, enhancing technical skills of teaching staff, arranging workshops and revamping the syllabus. In addition to the training activities we conduct Extracurricular Activities, Nature and Environment Protection club, Blood Donation Forum, Arts and Sports etc. To promote Public - Privet Partnership, an institute management committee was formed in this institute at 2005. Promoting parent-teacher interaction, a parent teachers association(PTA) was also constituted in this institute. The IMC and PTA are playing a significant role in the smooth running of the institute. With a view to provide technically qualified man-power required for different industries and to be helpful to provide employment, this Institute is carried over different Technical Short Term Courses. The willingness of local industries to make themselves available for Campus Interviews. Now Kerala state industrial training department is decides that Information Technology Literacy is compulsory for trainees of ITIs. We are imparting training of IT Literacy in regular manner as per syllabus
