Remembering the memorable persons who are responsible for the establishment of Govt ITI Dhanuvachapuram I begin to go through the history of this institution First of all I would like to begin its history from the name itself According to the Hindu mythology Ramayana Sree Ramachandra on his way to Lanka in search of Sita Devi vested in this place and he placed his bow here that s why this place got the name Dhanus Vachapuram later become Dhanuvchapuram In Mahatmaji s vision of establishing Gramaswaraj there is more importance for Vocational trade education Then our first Honourable Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru also gave importance for this in his first fiver year plan In conection with all this program Central Government organised Community development Trade Schools and started all over the nation It was decided to start a trade school at Dhanuvachapuram Dhanuvachapuram Karuva Madam Sri Neelakantaru Krishnaru popularly known as Potty donates 14 acres of land for the establishmsnt of this trade school Thus the origination of this began In 1953 June 5th Community project administrator Mr S K Dey laided the foundation stone of this instituion 1955 Jan 23rd Hounoured former chief minister Pattom A Thanupillai inaugurated this house of knowledge In the beginning here were only four trades Draughtman Mechanical Black smith Internal Combustion Engine Mechanic Wireman and there was a selection board who interview and selected the candidates In 1956 this institution promoted as Industrial Training Institute Later more trades like Sheet Metal Worker Radio Mechanism Fitter Turner Fountryman etc were also began During this period War Technician Courses were started Army Officers Camp here and they trained the trainees Food Uniform and accommodation were free at that time as a result many people came forward for admission According to 1966 Kothari Commission students those who completed 8th standard are eligible for getting the admission this institution After 1970 more workshop buildings employee quarters new students hostel etc were also constructed and started more Matric and Non matric trades like D Civil MRAC Welder Carpenter Electrician Machinist Electronic Machanic Turner etc In 2006 this institute was upgraded as Centre of Excellence by inducting the COE Production and Manufacturing Cluster As a part of that a new two storey block was constructed at our campus and was named as COE Block Well equipped Welding workshop constitutes all modern welding facilities and a CNC training centre with latest model of 6 CNC machines were the specialties as a part of this upgradation As per the recent revamping formalities the COE trades were revamped as CTS trades and presently our Institute has a total of 21trades functioning in two shifts In 2016 four matric new trades are introduced viz Operator Advanced Machine Tools Computer Hardware Network Maintanance Welder GMAW GTW and Mechanic Consumer Electronics Appliances under SCVT In 2016 contruct a three stored new administrative block for administrative office with modern theory class workshops and IT labs
